In his speech during the party’s 72nd anniversary celebration, Chong cited the example of Health director-general Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah and preacher Ebit Liew who served their countrymen regardless of race or religion. He also commended academician Prof Dr Mohamad Tajuddin Mohamad who is willing to start dialogues and meaningful conversations between those of different races. “Such figures are needed here in Malaysia, not because they are fighting to become Prime Minister until they criticise each other, or that they are a party who keep advocating for ‘change’ but are politicking, ” he said at Wisma MCA on Sunday (March 7).
