KUALA LUMPUR (Jan 26): The Ministry of Health Malaysia (MoH) has placed public and private hospitals in a cluster under the Covid-19 Integrated Control Centre to operate in a hybrid manner.
Health director-general Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said the cluster would operate to treat Covid-19 and non-Covid-19 patients according to instructions issued by the MoH. As of Monday, there are 210 licensed private hospitals, of which 129 private hospitals offer inpatient services dealing with internal medicine. Of the total, 96 private hospitals have agreed to provide Covid-19 treatment, where the total number of (inpatient) beds (provided) so far is 1,252, as well as 65 ICU beds, and 54 ventilator machines.

PUTRAJAYA: A Covid-19 outbreak involving a religious centre has been detected in Kulim, Kedah.
The outbreak has 34 confirmed cases so far, and is one of the seven new Covid-19 clusters, identified by the Health Ministry on Tuesday (Jan 26).
Health director-general Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said the cluster, dubbed “Keladi Saga”, was linked to infections in Kampung Keladi and Taman Saga in Kulim.
“Since Jan 21,49 people linked to the cluster have been screened with 34 of them tested positive, ” he said in a statement.
The index case involved a 64-year-old man who developed symptoms such as cough, fever, flu and muscle pain since Jan 14.
It has been a year since Covid-19 hit the country, yet the staff of the Ministry of Health (MoH) are still committed and working tirelessly in the fight against the deadly pandemic. A posting by the MoH on its Facebook read that work continues as usual by all top management of the MoH and also the ministry's frontliners at hospitals, the Crisis Preparedness and Response Centre (CPRC), Covid-19 assessment centres (CAC) and clinics nationwide.
PUTRAJAYA: 95 private hospitals in the country have agreed to help manage the increasing Covid-19 cases, says the Health Ministry.
Health director-general Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said there are 130 private hospitals that have the capability to treat patients who are Category 3 and above.
“Out of the 130 private hospitals, 95 of them have agreed to help the ministry to treat Covid-19 patients.
“So we are waiting for the response of a few more hospitals. But this is a good development, as it is less than a week after we had engagement sessions with the private sector, ” said Dr Noor Hisham during a virtual media session on Monday (Jan 25).
