MOST parts of Selangor and Kuala Lumpur are now under an enhanced movement control order (MCO), a painful but necessary move given the rise in Covid-19 cases in the Klang Valley.
Selangor and Kuala Lumpur have recorded case incidents of more than 12.1 per 100,000 residents. There has been an average of 1,800 to 1,900 cases daily in Selangor and between 600 and 1,000 in Kuala Lumpur.
With such a high infectivity rate, these next two weeks will be crucial in the battle against Covid-19 and its new, highly infectious variants.
Meanwhile, the rest of the country is in the first phase of the National Recovery Plan (NRP).

KUALA LUMPUR, July 4 As several localities in Selangor enter the first day of an enhanced movement control order (EMCO), its Mentri Besar Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari said that such a move was necessary as previous efforts were not enough to contain the spread of Covid-19 in the state.
In an exclusive interview with
The Star, Amirudin concurred with the concern of the Ministry of Health (MoH) that the spread of the highly infectious virus could overwhelm the public health system if no drastic measures were taken to contain it.
