PUTRAJAYA, April 29 Senior citizens who have been vaccinated against Covid-19 are reminded to continue observing the standard operating procedure (SOP), as they can still be infected with the virus, said Health director-general Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah. He said they should continue to wear face mask when going out and practise social distancing because the vaccine would be effective only two weeks after the second dose was administered.

The last time the country reported more than 3,000 new cases was on Dec 24 last year with 3,545 confirmed infections in a single day. This is the 13 consecutive day that the daily new cases have stayed above 2,000, bringing cumulative confirmed infections in the country to 401,593. Selangor s daily new cases climbed to 1,019 from 750 the day before lifting the state s tally so far to 130,542, according to a statement by the Ministry of Health (MOH).

Daily Covid-19 infections climb to 2,776, with Selangor recording 762 cases

KUALA LUMPUR (April 26): The number of Covid-19 infections in the country in the past 24 hours rose to 2,776 from 2,690 the day before, bringing the total number of cases in the country to 395,718. Selangor recorded the highest number of cases in the country again, with 762, according to Health director-general Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah. Sarawak came in second with 615 positive cases, followed by Kelantan (343 cases), Johor (309) and Kuala Lumpur (254). The country also recorded 13 more deaths from the pandemic six from Sarawak, three from Selangor, two from Sabah and one each from Kelantan and Johor. These raised the pandemic death toll to 1,449 cases, or 0.37% of total cases in the country.
