Justin Trudeau wants to make sure “all the i’s are dotted and t’s are crossed” before drawing any conclusions about whether what’s happening in Xinjiang constitutes genocide. It’s unclear how exactly those i’s will get dotted or those t’s crossed, given China is unlikely to allow an independent investigation of its treatment of the Uighur ethnic minority. But the prime minister’s comments Tuesday were the latest step in this government’s delicate dance with China.

Premier Doug Ford is facing some online backlash for going against his own message of asking people to stay home on Family Day.
Ford visited former Mississauga mayor Hazel McCallion as she celebrated her 100th birthday over the weekend.
Ford posted a video to social media on Sunday documenting his visit.
Despite telling people to ‘stay at home’ and only ‘gather with those you live with’, Doug Ford travelled to another city to gather with people from several households the SAME afternoon as this tweet.

Even at 100, Hazel McCallion would be in the Coach’s starting lineup.
“You better believe it,” said Don Cherry of his longtime pal known as the Hurricane. “She is as tough as nails.”

TORONTO Former Mississauga mayor Hazel McCallion is celebrating a huge milestone today, turning 100 years old. On Sunday morning, the centenarian was greeted by students and parents from Philopateer Christian College who hosted a birthday drive-by at McCallion’s Mississauga residence. The group dropped off cards, signs, a pink birthday cake and a big birthday banner in celebration of McCallion’s big day, while wearing masks and attempting to physical distance amid the COVID-19 pandemic. McCallion said the outdoor gathering was a special treat on her Valentine’s Day birthday. “This means so much. In fact, I surely did not expect anything like this. I thought, 100th birthday, I was 99 last year. I thought, oh another 100th [birthday celebration] so what? But it s been really wonderful,” she told CP24 Sunday afternoon outside of her home.
