There have now been 59 covid-19 cases in the Old Rochester Regional School District since opening on Sept. 16, as one person each from the high school and Rochester Memorial have come down with the virus.
The district said in Dec. 18 press releases that the positive cases have not been in their respective buildings since Dec. 11 and are at home self-isolating.
Officials did not specify whether the individuals are a student, faculty or staff members.
Contact tracing is in progress and any close contact, or those who were within six feet of the positive individuals for at least 10 minutes over a 24 hour period, will be notified and followed by the Rochester or Mattapoisett Board of Health. Close contacts are expected to quarantine and will be recommended for testing.

MATTAPOISETT A new covid case was reported by the Old Rochester Regional School District on Dec. 19, the 59th since schools reopened on Sept. 16.
The case is affiliated with The Old Rochester Regional School District High School building, but it’s unclear whether the positive person is a student, faculty or staff member.
Contact tracing for the case is being conducted. Close contacts will be notified by their respective Boards of Health, and are expected to quarantine.
All schools will continue operations as normal on Dec. 21.

Talks on a new plan to return Rochester Memorial School’s youngest students to full in-person learning were postponed at a Dec. 17 Rochester School Committee meeting. The issue will be discussed at a future meeting, which has yet to be scheduled.
ROCHESTER Families will have to wait a little longer to find out if and when their students will return to full in-person school.

The Old Rochester Regional School District announced four new covid cases at ORRHS and Rochester Memorial School on Dec. 17.
Three of the cases came from ORRHS, and one from Rochester Memorial.
Contact tracing for the cases is ongoing. Close contacts will be notified by their respective Boards of Health and are expected to quarantine.
The positive individuals at ORRHS were last in the building on Dec. 10. The positive person from Rochester Memorial was last in school on Dec. 11.
All schools will continue operating as normal on Dec. 18.

Ahead of winter storm Gail, all municipal buildings in Marion and Mattapoisett will be closed on Thursday, Dec. 17. Trash and recycling will be delayed to Friday in Mattapoisett and to Saturday in Rochester.
For students in the Old Rochester Regional School District, schools will be closed on Dec. 17 and there will be no remote or in-person learning.
The National Weather Service has issued a winter storm warning until 1 p.m. on Thursday. Heavy snowfall anywhere from 6 to 11 inches is expected. Winds will be gusting as high as 55 miles per hour.
It also reports that travel could be very difficult to impossible, and gusty winds could bring down tree branches.
