The U.S. Nuclear R&D Imperative recommends significant immediate increases in federal nuclear R&D investment. EPRI, GTI’s Low-Carbon Resources Initiative Gains Another Sponsor, Surpasses $100M Funding Milestone The Low-Carbon Resources Initiative (LCRI), a collaborative project from the Electric Power Research Institute Inc. (EPRI) and Gas Technology Institute (GTI), added its 33rd sponsor, achieving and exceeding its $100 million effort to develop alternatives to natural gas.  Utility holding company based in Minneapolis, Minnesota and newest member, Xcel Energy joined the efforts of the LCRI to bring together industry stakeholders and accelerate the development of low- and zero-carbon energy solutions.  Under the LCRI, EPRI and GTI, accompanied by sponsors, hope to bring early-stage technologies to commercial scale by 2030.
