Duke Energy Foundation awards more than $311,000 in grants to support K-12 education initiatives in 15 Indiana counties

Share this article Share this article PLAINFIELD, Ind., March 17, 2021 /PRNewswire/  The Duke Energy Foundation has awarded $311,246 in grants to 22 different K-12 education programs in 15 Indiana counties for 2021. The grants support summer reading programs; energy, engineering and environmental education programs; and programs that support under-represented, low-income or diverse audiences. We all know many students missed out on several learning opportunities last year, said Stan Pinegar, Duke Energy state president for Indiana. I am proud that we are able to offer these grants to students in communities throughout our service territory with the hope of helping those students catch up, restore their passion for learning and encourage them to meet and exceed their educational goals.

That’s especially true this season as Duke Energy Renewables has partnered with Sutton Avian Research Center in Oklahoma on the installation of the center’s second eagle nest camera, now livestreaming video at suttoncenter.org. Duke Energy Renewables provided grants totaling $37,500 to support the Sutton Center’s original camera in Sequoyah National Wildlife Refuge – the longest consistently running nest camera in the nation – and fund the installation of a second nest camera in rural Bartlesville, just half a mile from the Sutton Center.

December 16, 2020 Share This Story CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Duke Energy Foundation and Duke Energy Renewables have awarded the Maryneal Volunteer Fire Department with a $20,000 grant to help maintain the critical safety services it provides to the local businesses and residents of Maryneal, Texas, and its surrounding area. “These funds will enable Maryneal Volunteer Fire Department to obtain the equipment necessary to enhance the fire suppression capabilities of our team of fire volunteers,” said Buster Muncy, assistant fire chief of Maryneal Volunteer Fire Department. “Our goal is to obtain a larger truck with 1,200-gallon capacity of water along with a pump and hoses necessary to distribute water on woodland fires in our response area. We are proud and grateful to partner with Duke Energy on this endeavor.”
