CORAL SPRINGS, FL - We remain optimistic that with the distribution of the COVID-19 vaccines, the end of this unprecedented pandemic is in sight for 2021.
We are proud to have developed partnerships with the Florida Department of Emergency Management (FDEM) and Florida Department of Health (FDOH), as well as local medical providers to serve as a distribution point for the COVID-19 vaccine. Our city staff quickly assembled a team to open a site at the Coral Square Mall to better serve the senior community in the northwest corridor of Broward County in January.
After our editorial condemning the proposed three new toll roads in western Florida as wasteful and unnecessary, a reader from the west coast writes that we might think differently if we lived where he does.

The Florida Department of Health in Broward County is now having people eligible for COVID-19 shots sign up over the phone.
Seniors 65 and older and frontline healthcare workers can call 866-201-6313 to request an appointment, and for those requiring TTY access, the number is 833-476-1526.
“When people call the appointment number, they will be asked through an automated system to enter information using their telephone keypad. Live agents will call people back to make appointments until all current appointments are filled,” the health department said in a news release. “People who receive their first dose of COVID-19 vaccine at DOH-Broward sites through this new appointment system will be asked to schedule their second dose through this new system.”

Those people “should go to Snyder Park to receive their second dose on the date written on their appointment card at the time they arrived for their first dose,” health officials say.
You don’t need to make a new appointment.
Snyder Park is located at 3299 SW 4th Ave. in Fort Lauderdale.
