Cape Coral Police Department responded to a disturbance outside a home in north Cape Coral Thursday night, where interim Chief Anthony Sizemore says responding officers shot and killed a man who was armed with a gun.
Cape Coral police went to a home in the 2600 block of NW 9th St near the intersection with NW 28th Ave and NW 8th Terrace.

During a news conference, the chief confirmed two officers encountered a man with a gun outside the home and took cover before the man confronted both officers. Both officers shot at the man, who died of gunshot injuries.

Cape Coral Police Department is investigating a recently reported armed robbery at a home in Cape Coral.
Family members called police after they said an armed man held their 15-year-old daughter at gunpoint while he took money and jewelry from the home in the 1900 block of NE 20th Ave south of Kismet Parkway near Del Prado Boulevard.
A family member told us crooks took away their sense of security, and they don’t have any idea why they were targeted.

Cape Coral Police Department confirms a child was found safe Tuesday night after he was considered missing and endangered earlier in the day.
According to CCPD, police were searching for 11-year-old Jasper Watson, who was originally last seen at 5:10 p.m.
There was an increased police presence in the search for him in the area of the 1400 block of SW 20th Street, which is off Chiquita Boulevard S in the city.
Police have not confirmed where the child was found at this time.

A Michigan woman was arrested for a DUI crash Wednesday night, according to the Cape Coral Police Department.
Jennifer E. Smith, 34, of Kalamazoo, Mich., was arrested after officers responded to a single-vehicle rollover traffic crash on the 100 block of Douglas Parkway. Her white Chevy Impala was found in a vacant field on the east side of Juanita Place, having rolled over and come to rest on its driver-side door. Smith sustained minor injuries, while her passenger sustained serious injuries.
