Man, 26, fatally stabbed in N.J. city

A man was fatally stabbed early Sunday morning near Park Avenue in Paterson, authorities said.
Police responded to the area of 315 Park Avenue shortly before 12:30 a.m. after receiving a report of a group fighting and a victim who was stabbed, according to a statement from the Passaic County Prosecutor’s Office.
Officers found 26-year-old Luis Ramirez lying on the ground near a parked vehicle, unresponsive, with stab wounds, police said. He was pronounced dead at the scene, the statement said.
The investigation remains ongoing. Police did not indicate in the statement whether there were any suspects at this time.
N.J. teacher dies by suicide inside school where he worked, authorities say

A 47-year-old teacher died by an apparent suicide inside Pompton Lakes High School, where he worked, authorities said Saturday.
Police found the man’s body inside the school building on Friday while conducting a welfare check around 9 p.m., the Passaic County Prosecutor’s Office said.
The teacher lived in Doylestown, Pennsylvania, and taught the form, function and design course at the high school, Pompton Lakes Public Schools Superintendent Paul Amoroso wrote in a letter to parents.
He began teaching in September and leaves behind a wife, two children and two step-children, Amoroso wrote.
Investigators said Saturday morning that the 47-year-old shop and technology teacher had taken his own life.
The body of Patrick Moccia, a resident of Doylestown, Pennsylvania, was discovered after police were called to the school about 9:04 p.m. Friday to check on him.
The Passaic County Prosecutor s Office, which is investigating, did not release other details pending a full report by the medical examiner.
Moccia s online resume says he also worked as a STEM teacher at Delaware Valley Regional High School.
