In addition, Wolf has authorized and directed that the Pennsylvania Emergency Management Agency Director can assume command and control of all statewide emergency operations and use any resources deemed necessary to cope with the severity of the emergency.
By doing so, Wolf was able to designate $2 million in unused, appropriated funds to expenses related to emergency. According to the proclamation, these funds can be increased or decreased as conditions require, per the Emergency Management Services Code.

The exception: About a dozen members of Phil s Inner Circle, a group of men in top hats who organize the event each year. Along with the Inner Circle, some cardboard cutouts of some previous attendees were placed around the tiny hill just outside Punxsutawney.

(Harrisburg, PA) The calm continues the State Capitol building in Harrisburg. Most buildings were closed Monday due to the Martin Luther King Junior holiday, but the increased presence of the P-A National Guard was visible, as were plenty of orange security barriers. Pennlive reports there were no arrests related to protest activity.

The Lebanon office of the Pennsylvania National Guard, which is located at 1000 East Cumberland Street, inside the old armory building, isn’t new, and neither is its mission. But Pier and Gibbs, a couple of recruiters working out of the Lebanon office, are currently doubling down on their efforts.
Pennsylvania officials will offer a scaled-down version of its successful program providing immediate support to long-term care facilities battling COVID-19 for at least six more weeks.
The Regional Congregate Care Assistance Teams (RCAT), part of the state s Long-Term Care Task Force, will replace the Regional Response Health Collaborative (RRHC). That program ended Dec. 30, when the state’s CARES Act funding expired.
The new program will continue 24-hour access to assistance started under the previous federally funded program, including COVID-19 testing, personal protective equipment orders, assessments and short-term staffing for licensed facilities serving more than 127,000
Pennsylvanians.
“Quick response is imperative. The need for the support has not disappeared,” Secretary of Health and Human Services Teresa Miller said during a press conference Wednesday.
