British woman murdered in Defence - Newspaper

LAHORE: A Pakistani-origin British woman was found slain at her rented house in Defence on Monday. Identified as Maya (25), she was shot in the head. She had arrived from the UK some two months back where her family is settled, Cantt Operations SP Sayyed Ali told this reporter. He said the deceased woman’s friend was living in her adjoining room at the upper portion of the house and the police were taking her help to resolve apparently a blind murder case. The SP said an unidentified caller had alerted them about the murder and after that forensic experts visited the scene and cordoned off the crime scene.

The deceased was identified as Mahira Zulfiqar, who had arrived in Pakistan from the United Kingdom two months ago and was staying at the upper portion of a bungalow in Lahore DHA with her friend, reported Geo News. The police informed that the victim was strangled and shot. A domestic worker found her body around 12 in the afternoon. Preliminary inquiries have so far not found any evidence suggesting abuse or resistance to a robbery.

COVID-19: Pakistan extends travel restrictions on incoming flights until April 20

The new rules will come into effect from 1am on April 6 and continue until April 20. The steps have been announced to prevent the spread of new variants of the virus in Pakistan as the country continues to grapple with the highly contagious third wave of the coronavirus reporting more than 4,000 new cases daily since March 24. Not allowed entry The CAA issued a new list of countries with the limited and complete travel ban categorized into three groups. The new list of category C (countries not allowed entry into Pakistan) has increased the number of countries from 12 to 22 and includes South Africa, Brazil, Botswana, Kenya, Comoros, Mozambique, Zambia, Tanzania, Rwanda, Peru, Colombia, Chile, Eswatini, Zimbabwe, Lesotho, Malawi, Seychelles, Somalia, Suriname, Uruguay and Venezuela.
