– Pakistani Prime Minister Imran Khan has arrived in Sri Lanka for a two-day visit where he will meet Sri Lankan President Gotabaya Rajapaksa and Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa for talks focusing on increasing trade and investment, Pakistan’s foreign office said.
Khan arrived in the Sri Lankan capital Colombo on Tuesday for his first visit to the island nation since taking office as Pakistani prime minister in 2018. Sri Lankan Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa received him at the airport.
“The [Pakistani] prime minister will also lead the delegation-level talks, covering all areas of cooperation between the two countries including trade and investment, health and education, agriculture and science and technology, defence and security, and culture and tourism,” read a Pakistani curtain-raiser statement on the visit.

India has permitted Pakistani Prime Minister Imran Khan s aircraft to use Indian Air Space as he travels to Sri Lanka, news agency ANI reported. This will be Imran Khan s maiden visit to Sri Lanka. His aircraft twill land at the Colombo airport.
Earlier in 2019, Pakistan had denied opening its airspace for Prime Minister Narendra Modi s flights to the US and Saudi Arabia. India then raised the denial of permission to VVIP flight with International Civil Aviation Organisation a specialised agency of the United Nations.Â
Under normal circumstances, the VVIP aircraft are granted permission by countries. However, Pakistan s denial of permission to VVIP aircraft was an aberration.
Islamabad, Feb 23 (Prensa Latina) Pakistani Prime Minister Imran Khan on Tuesday arrived in Sri Lanka on an official two-day visit to boost bilateral cooperation in trade, investment, health, education, agriculture, and science and technology.
Pakistan had requested for use of air space, which India granted permission. As per required protocol, whenever heads of state or governments pass through the air space of any other country, that country is alerted and due permission taken.
