May 22, 2021
A ceasefire agreed between Israel and Hamas came into effect yesterday, ending 11 days of brutal Israeli bombardment of the Gaza Strip, which killed over 230 Palestinians. More than 100 of the victims were women and children, according to Palestinian health authorities. Meanwhile, 12 deaths were recorded on the Israeli side, with the country s health ministry saying that two of the victims were children. The death tolls themselves illustrate the disproportionate level of the Israeli response to as it claims Hamas aggression. On Thursday alone, Israel conducted over 100 airstrikes on Gaza, claiming it was attacking Hamas infrastructure .
The shameless attacks came as the UN was holding an emergency meeting on the latest Israeli assault on Palestine. At the UN, Pakistani Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi was among the global leaders calling for an end to Israel s relentless onslaught on Palestine. He highlighted the death and destruction

Islamabad, Pakistan – Countrywide “Palestine Day” demonstrations have been held across Pakistan in solidarity with Palestinians, as the country’s foreign minister was accused of “anti-Semitism” during a US television appearance.
Demonstrations attended by hundreds were held in Karachi, the country’s biggest city, as well as the eastern city of Lahore, the capital Islamabad, and elsewhere on Friday following midday Muslim prayers.
“This was just an expression on behalf of the people of Pakistan and the government of Pakistan that we stand by the people of Palestine and … we strongly condemn Israeli aggression against innocent Palestinians and also the [raiding] of Al-Aqsa Mosque,” said Pakistani Information Minister Fawad Chaudhry.
