KARACHI: The Pakistan Olympic Association, in a landmark move, has suspended the Athletics Federation of Pakistan over various charges related to doping control.
The development came after AFP refused to cooperate with a probe committee formed to find reasons behind positive dope tests of three Pakistani athletes during the South Asian Games last year.
A notification from POA confirmed that the Athletics Federation of Pakistan will remain suspended until it complies with the instruction set by the POA for anti-doping measures.
Three Pakistani athletes, Mehboob Ali, Muhammad Naeem, and Samiullah were banned for four years after failing dope tests during last year’s South Asian Games, who belonged to the same sport Athletics.

If Pakistan fails to make any progress towards hosting the South Asian Games then the Games may be shifted to Sri Lanka

ISLAMABAD: As the meeting of Executive Committee of the Pakistan Sports Board (PSB) is scheduled for today (Wednesday) to decide on Pakistan’s participation in the forthcoming international events, however there is a fear that absence of the Pakistan Olympic Association’s (POA) representative may make future liaison with the international sports bodies a tougher proposition.
The recently-formed Executive Committee includes Minister for IPC, Secretary IPC, DG Pakistan Sports Board, representative of the Finance Ministry and a high official of the NESCOM.
In the absence of PSB’s director general (vacant post), the meeting is likely to be participated by four members of the committee.
