The Pakistan Atomic Energy Commission (PAEC) announced on Wednesday that it had developed the country s first indigenous intensive care unit (ICU) ventilator i-Live.
The ventilator was developed by PAEC s scientists and engineers while keeping in view all essential quality standards and regulatory requirements, the body said in a statement, adding that doctors at the PAEC hospital in Islamabad also provided input during the development process. Besides passing through all internal reviews and testing, the i-Live ventilator also successfully passed the independent reviews and testing conducted throughout the development lifecycle by the evaluation team from Pakistan Innovation and Technology Centre and the Pakistan Engineering Council (PEC), PAEC said.

Ignite, PITC collaborate for growth of engineering innovation in Pakistan
Islamabad, March 12, 2021 (PPI-OT): Ignite entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Pakistan Innovation and Testing Centre (PITC), a department of Pakistan Engineering Council (PEC), for partnership and collaboration for the growth of entrepreneurs, researchers, industrialists, and academia in engineering innovation in Pakistan. The event was attended by Mr. Shoaib Ahmad Siddiqui, Federal Secretary of IT and Telecom, Mr. Asim Shahryar Husain, CEO Ignite, Engr. Dr. Nasir Mehmood Khan Registrar/Secretary, Brig. Tariq Javed (R), Advisor on Innovation and senior officials of the IT Ministry and Ignite. Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Shoaib Ahmad Siddiqui, Federal Secretary of IT and Telecom expressed his pleasure to see Pakistan Innovation and Testing Center (PITC) and Ignite joining hands for innovation under their respective organizations i.e. PEC and Ministry of IT and Telecom.
