Agriculture University VC rejects allegations by teachers

PESHAWAR: Vice-Chancellor, Agriculture University, Peshawar, Prof Dr Jehan Bakht has rejected the allegations levelled against him by some protesting teachers and said the varsity has come out of crisis owing to the efforts he made during the past two years.
The teachers and other staff members of the university under the aegis of Agriculture University Teachers (AUTA) have been protesting for the last four weeks for acceptance of their demands.
They have levelled serious allegations against the vice-chancellor. The teachers said the university administration had been unable to hold selection board meetings on time and give genuine rights to the employees.
HEC urged to revisit policy on MA (private) admissions

PESHAWAR: Gomal University Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Iftikhar Ahmad has suggested to the Higher Education Commission Pakistan to revisit its policy of ending MA (private) admissions in the universities.
He was expressing his views at a talk organized by Pakistan Academy of Sciences on the topic of “Growing Shadows of Uncertainty in Higher Education Sector of Pakistan”.
Academicians from all over the country participated in the talk to discuss the new policy introduced by the Higher Education Commission Pakistan.
During his first lecture after becoming fellow at PAS, while talking to the participants, Vice-Chancellor of the Gomal University Dr Iftikhar Ahmad said that HEC established in 2002, worked efficiently under the chairmanship of Dr Atta-Ur-Rahman and others over the years.

Islamabad:Pakistan Academy of Sciences (PAS) has announced to confer ‘Gold Medals and Awards 2021’ upon the Pakistani scientists who have made outstanding contributions in scientific research.
The PAS has invited the nominations from the Pakistani scientists in different disciplines for their selection for the prestigious awards which were being given with an objective to acknowledge their contributions to society.
According to an official of the academy, PAS gold medals will be awarded in various disciplines including Agriculture Sciences, including Veterinary Sciences and Forestry; Biological Science, including Botany, Zoology, Microbiology and Bio-Chemistry; Chemical Sciences including Pharmaceutical Sciences; Earth and Environmental Sciences and Emerging Technologies, including Biotechnology, Nanotechnology, Molecular Biology and Bioinformatics.
