Death of Gohar Noshahi condoled Islamabad January 20, 2021 Islamabad:Pakistan Academy of Letters (PAL) Chairman Dr Yousuf Khushk expressed sorrow and grief over the death of Dr. Gohar Noshahi, a renowned researcher, writer and intellectual of Urdu and Persian. He said the deceased had done a lot for the development and promotion of Urdu. According to him, Dr. Gohar did research on the terminology of Urdu, which is of immense importance. Dr. Noshahi also served as the Director of Teaching at the Institute for the National Language Promotion Department.

Ahmed Faraz remembered

Ahmed Faraz remembered January 13, 2021 Islamabad : Pakistan Academy of Letters (PAL) on Tuesday organised National Literary Seminar on Ahmed Faraz in connection with his 90th birth anniversary. Addressing on the occasion, Chairman PAL Yousuf Khushk said, Ahmad Faraz through his poetic work, vision as well as his literary achievements connected the hearts of the peoples. He will always be in our hearts through his exemplary works and the love and respect he received from the peoples has no parallel in the history of literature, he added. He was a brave man who never compromised in his principles, he stated. Khushk said that Ahmed Faraz always raised voice for the oppressed nations and gave the message of love and humanity. He said that Faraz was the ambassador of love and peace from Pakistan and a man of rules.

PAL chairman condoles death of Naseer Tarrabi Islamabad January 12, 2021 Islamabad: Pakistan Academy of Letters (PAL) Chairman Dr Yousuf Khushk on Monday expressed deep grief over the demise of well-known story writer, poet and intellectual Naseer Tarrabi. The chairman in his condolence message said that the services of Naseer Tarrabi for literature and knowledge cannot be forgotten. He said the writer achieved national and international prominence in linguistic research and criticism along with various prose genres, novels and essays. Chairman said that his book ‘Lareeb’ has been rewarded with Allama Iqbal award by PAL in 2017. He said that Naseer Tarrabi was a shining beacon of knowledge and literature.

Renowned poet Naseer Turabi passes away

Renowned poet Naseer Turabi passes away Late writer penned down popular ghazal, Wo Humsafar Tha after creation of Bangladesh  KARACHI: Renowned poet, author and intellectual, Naseer Turabi, passed away in Karachi on Sunday after succumbing to ill health. Turabi was 75-years-old and will be laid to rest at Wadi-a-Hussain graveyard today (Monday) after funeral prayers at Zuhr at Imambargah Shuhada-e-Karbala in Federal B Area Ancholi. The late poet was the son of famed Urdu poet, linguist, lexicographer and famous religious speaker Allama Rashid Turabi. Turabi was born on June 15, 1945, in Hyderabad Deccan, pre-partition India. He and his family migrated to Pakistan after independence. He started his journey as a poet in 1962 and did his Masters in Public Relations from the University of Karachi in 1968.
