According to data released by the All Pakistan Cement Manufacturers Association (APCMA), local cement offtake in April 2021 rose to 4.1 million tons against 3.27 million tons in April 2020, showing a healthy growth of 24.29%. Following a similar trend, exports increased by a significant 252%, rising from 249,127 tons in April 2020 to 877,163 tons in April 2021. Cement mills based in northern Pakistan sold 3.38 million tons in domestic markets, an increase of 15.33% over 2.93 million tons sold in April 2020. According to data released by the All Pakistan Cement Manufacturers Association (APCMA), local dispatches during April 2021 increased to 4.066Mt from 3.271Mt a year earlier. Cement plants based in the north dispatched 3.377Mt of cement domestically, up 15.3 per cent from 2.928Mt dispatched in April 2020. Southern mills dispatched 688,239t of cement to local markets during April 2021, translating to a robust growth of 100 per cent compared to dispatches of 342,594t in April 2020.

Business May 5, 2021 LAHORE: Cement sales – local and exports – raced ahead in double-digit growth in April compared to the COVID-addled last year haunted by lockdown, but there was an eight percent decline month-on-month due to Ramazan slowdown. Total sales of 4.9 million tons were 40.4 percent up from 3.5 million tons in the corresponding month of last fiscal year, according to the data released by All Pakistan Cement Manufacturers Association (APCMA). Local cement sales increased to 4.06 million tons from 3.2 million tons, an increase of 24.3 percent. Exports also increased 252 percent, from 249,127 tons to 877,163 tons. In March 2020, total cement dispatches were 5.37 million tons, according to the APCMA data.

As a result, total cement dispatches (local sales and exports) grew by 40.41pc in April 2021 to 4.943m tonnes as against 3.52m tonnes during the same month of 2020, figures released by All Pakistan Cement Manufacturers Association (APCMA) showed on Tuesday. During April 2021, the North-based cement mills dispatched 3.377m tonnes in the domestic markets, up by 15.33pc over 2.928m tonnes from a year ago. South-based mills sales stood at 688,239 tonnes in the local markets during April this year, depicting a jump of 100pc compared to 342,594 tonnes in April 2020.
