PRCS KP pays tribute to frontline workers on World Red Crescent Day

PESHAWAR: The Pakistan Red Crescent Society, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa paid tributes to frontline workers amid the Covid-19 pandemic on the World Red Cross and Red Crescent Day-2012.
A ceremony was held at the Lady Reading Hospital where frontline workers including doctors, paramedics, journalists, cleaning staff, and PRCS staffers were made to walk on a path surrounded by the PRCS volunteers who stood clapping to acknowledge their work.
On the occasion, the PRCS KP also donated 3,000 N-95 masks to LRH hospital management.
PRCS KP chairman retired Lt Gen Mohammad Hamid Khan said on the occasion that during the Covid-19 operations, the role of medical staff, volunteers, journalists and other frontline workers is appreciable.

Ceremony held in Turkey to mark Gallipoli landings
A wreath-laying ceremony was held in western Canakkale province early on Sunday to commemorate the 106th anniversary of the landing of foreign troops on Turkish soil during World War I.
Due to coronavirus measures, the wreath-laying ceremony with limited participants was held instead of a dawn service with the usual participation of thousands of Australians and New Zealanders coming to commemorate their ancestors every April 25.
April 25 is also known as ANZAC Day in Australia a significant national holiday that honors the Australian and New Zealand Army Corps (ANZAC) who fought and died in Canakkale on Turkey’s western coast in 1915. Australia and New Zealand commemorate the event as Gallipoli.
PRCS distributes food packs among deserving families

Islamabad : The Pakistan Red Crescent Society (PRCS) on Friday distributed food packs among deserving families at a ceremony held here at the National Headquarters.
The food packs were distributed among 500 families as part of an initiative launched in collaboration with the Turkish Red Crescent (TRC) under which a total of 5,000 families will be provided with ration packs in 13 districts of the country during the holy month of Ramazan.
Ambassador of Turkey Ihsan Mustafa Yurdakul, PRCS Chairman Abrar ul Haq, Secretary General Dr Adeel Nawaz, Head of Turkish Red Crescent in Pakistan Ibraheem Carlos, PRCS and TRC officials and volunteers attended the ceremony.
