ISLAMABAD: The opposition in the Senate on Monday rejected a bill proposing powers for the Pakistan Electronic Media Regularity Authority (Pemra) to look into complaints of violation of contractual obligations by private TV channels.
PPP Parliamentary Leader in the House Sherry Rehman, opposing the bill, alleged: “The Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority (PEMRA) is going to be used to interfere in media contracts now. It already has a terrible record. Media has no space in Pakistan under this government and Tabahi Sarkar is bent upon suppressing the media and voices of dissent.” The bill, which has been cleared by the relevant Standing Committee twice, was moved in the House by its Chairman PTI Senator Faisal Javed.

Minister of State for Climate Change Zartaj Gul Wazir on Tuesday informed the Senate that one billion trees would be planted by the end of the season under the Billion Tree project in the country.
Replying to various supplementary questions during the Question Hour, she said that 85,000 jobs had been given to people under the project.
The minister observed that more than 185 industrial units of various scales were functional in Islamabad and that flow of industrial waste into rivers or streams was completely prohibited.

ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) - The Senate today has passed “The Pakistan Environmental Protection (Amendment) Bill, 2020” introducing Twelve other bills during the session.
The Senate resumed its session at Parliament House with Chairman Sadiq Sanjrani in the chair. The Bill was moved by Senator Faisal Javed Khan. The Bill aims to amend the Pakistan Environmental Protection Act 1997.
Twelve bills were also introduced during the session.
The bills include “The Guardian and Wards (Amendment) Bill, 2020,” “The Public Complaints (Removal of Grievance) Bill, 2020,” “The Islamabad Rent Restriction (Amendment) Bill, 2020,” “The Right of Access to Information (Amendment) Bill, 2020,” “The Islamabad Women University Islamabad Bill, 2020,” “The Factories (Amendment) Bill, 2020,” “The Pakistan Arms (Amendment) B
