IHC stops Naeem Bukhari from working as Chairman PTV

Naeem Bukhari was appointed as PTV Chairman on November 23,2020.
ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) - The Islamabad High Court (IHC) restrained the Chairman of the Pakistan Television Corporation (PTV), Naeem Bukhari from working, on Thursday.
The IHC, while hearing a petition against the appointment, remarked that no reason was presented for granting relaxation in age requirement and referred the issue back to federal government.
During the hearing, the court asked whether government issued an advertisement for the appointment in the light of Supreme Court of Pakistan.
The court said that the summary was forwarded without going through verdict of the Supreme Court and Ministry of Information made the same mistakes that were made during appointment Ataul Haq Qasmi.

The Islamabad High Court has issued notices to the federal government in the petition challenging the appointment of PTV Chairperson Naeem Bokhari. A reply has been summoned in two weeks.
Chief Justice Athar Minallah asked what s illegal about his appointment notification.
The petitioner s lawyer said that the appointment violates the guidelines set by the Supreme Court.
The vacancy was not advertised, he said, adding that Bokhari doesn t meet the age retirement too. He is older than 65 years old and can t be appointed on this post, the lawyer added.
