Directs federal government to submit its reply within two weeks

ISLAMABAD:
The Islamabad High Court (IHC) issued a notice to the federal government on Thursday over the appointment of Naeem Bukhari as chairman Pakistan Television (PTV) board and managing director of the state-run television.
Chief Justice of IHC Athar Minallah presided over the hearing of the petition of citizen Arsalan Farrukh through his counsel wherein he pleaded that Bukhari’s appointment was not according to the guidelines set by the Supreme Court.

The Islamabad High Court has issued notices to the federal government in the petition challenging the appointment of PTV Chairperson Naeem Bokhari. A reply has been summoned in two weeks.
Chief Justice Athar Minallah asked what s illegal about his appointment notification.
The petitioner s lawyer said that the appointment violates the guidelines set by the Supreme Court.
The vacancy was not advertised, he said, adding that Bokhari doesn t meet the age retirement too. He is older than 65 years old and can t be appointed on this post, the lawyer added.

ISLAMABAD: The Supreme Court was informed on Monday that the national flag carrier had cleared 110 pilots out of the 141 whose licences to fly had been suspended against the backdrop of the fake degrees controversy.
Senior advocate Salman Akram Raja, representing the Pakistan International Airlines, informed a three-judge SC bench headed by Chief Justice Gulzar Ahmed that PIA had cleared 110 pilots and cancelled the licences of 15, whereas 14 pilots had been declared to be unfit to fly. A few cases were pending decision, he said.
