ISLAMABAD: The Ministry of Information Technology (IT) and Telecommunications has approved the allocation of funds for the Universal Service Fund (USF) projects for high-speed internet services and contracts for next-generation broadband, ARY News reported on Monday.
The approval was given in the 77th meeting of the Board of Directors of Universal Service Fund (USF) chaired by IT secretary Dr Sohail Rajput today. The board approved the USF’s budget worth approximately Rs18 billion for the fiscal year 2021-22.
Four USF projects worth approximately Rs2.14 billion have been approved by the board to provide high-speed internet services to approximately 2.2 million people in un-served and under-served areas of Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) provinces.

LAHORE: The Pakistan Telecommunication Company Limited (PTCL) on Monday appointed Hatem Mohamad Bamatraf as the Chief Executive Officer, announced the company in a notice to Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX).
“We have to inform you that Mr Matthew Wilsher has/have ceased to be the Chief Executive of the Company w.e.f. 2021-05-23 and Mr Hatem Mohamad Bamatraf has/have been appointed as Chief Executive,” the notification added.
PTCL Appoints a New CEO
The Pakistan Telecommunication Company Limited (PTCL) appointed its new chief on Monday.
According to the notifications that it submitted to the Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX), Hatem Mohamad Bamatraf has been voted in as the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) by the Board of Directors of the PTCL.
Another notification submitted to PSX detailed, “We have to inform you that Matthew Wilsher has/have ceased to be the Chief Executive of the Company w.e.f. 2021-05-23 and Mr. Hatem Mohamad Bamatraf has/have been appointed as Chief Executive”.

Wilsher had been appointed on 20 October last year (with his official duties beginning on 1 December 2020) as the replacement of Rashid Khan who had been the CEO of PTCL Group since March 2019.
