GHA plans response to PM’s remarks

Islamabad : The Federal Grand Health Alliance (FGHA) has called a press briefing today (Wednesday) in the grounds of the Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS) to respond to Prime Minister Imran Khan’s statement about why hospital reforms are so direly needed to bring about an improvement in the standard of medical care for the rich and poor alike.
“We will get the Medical Teaching Institutions (MTI) Ordinance reverted by forging ahead with unity,” the Chairman of FGHA Dr. Asfandyar Khan reiterated, inviting all print and electronic media to reach the PIMS grounds at 11 a.m. for a response to the PM’s statement.
Feeling no pressure or danger from opposition: PM Imran Khan
PESHAWAR: Prime Minister Imran Khan on Wednesday said the PTI-led government is facing no threat from the opposition rallies or pressure from any side and the whole drama is being staged for Senate elections, which the government intends to hold earlier than schedule.
He said the government has approached the Supreme Court of Pakistan to hold the upcoming Senate elections via a show of hands . Speaking to reporters here, Imran Khan said elections for the Upper House would be held earlier than planned and that he had been given a detailed briefing on the matter by Attorney General for Pakistan Khalid Jawed Khan.

Islamabad: Employees of the Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS) had a second round of parleys with the PM’s Special Adviser Ali Awan here Tuesday to communicate their key demands with reference to the status of PIMS and protection of their civil servant rights, both of which stand threatened on account of the Medical Teaching Institutions (MTI) Ordinance.
“We have demanded that PIMS should continue to remain under Schedule III, and that our status as civil servants should remain unchanged. A civil servant who does not opt for MTI should remain civil servant of an attached department of the federal government. We should be entitled to all perks and privileges of the federal government, in particular promotions, pensions, gratuity, housing, monetization, health facilities and other privileges declared by the federal government from time to time,” the Grand Health Alliance’s (GHA)
PIMS employees finally get some response from govt

Islamabad: The government established contact with employees of the Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS) on Saturday as the protest against the Medical Teaching Institutions (MTI) Ordinance continued on the 16th day, with the participation of representatives of 22 government organizations.
The leadership of the Federal Grand Health Alliance was called for a meeting in the office of the Prime Ministerâs Special Assistant on CDA Affairs Ai Nawaz Awan, where the concerns of PIMS employees were tabled for a discussion. Ali Nawaz assured the team that he would establish contact with the PMâs Special Advisor on Health Dr. Faisal Sultan for resolution of the crisis. The FGHA will now have a meeting with Dr. Faisal today (Tuesday).
