The theme for this International Women’s Day focused on an equal future, prioritising effective participation by women in every field while living in the time of the global Covid-19 pandemic. However, the question in this part of the world would remain the same and it is whether any real change would be possible in our society keeping in view the persistence of all the old barriers. Achieving gender equality and ensuring women empowerment would remain a farce until all these barriers are not removed. The dream of creating an inclusive society could be realised after having soul-searching at every level.
Scope of the Ehsaas Interest Free Loan programme is being expanded

The Centre has decided to pump in another Rs5 billion in the interest-free loan programme.
The scope of the Ehsaas Interest Free Loan programme is being expanded through providing an additional amount of Rs5 billion by the government, a statement said on Thursday.
This was revealed during a review meeting convened by Special Assistant to the PM on Social Protection and Poverty Alleviation Dr Sania Nishtar with the Ehsaas executing agency, Pakistan Poverty Alleviation Fund.

Rs 5 billion being ploughed into Ehsaas Interest Free Loan

ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: With the new injection of Rs 5 billion to upscale the Ehsaas Interest Free Loan (IFL) programme being ploughed by the government of Pakistan, the Prime Minister’s Special Assistant on Social Protection and Poverty Alleviation Dr. Sania Nishtar convened a review meeting with the Ehsaas’ executing agency, Pakistan Poverty Alleviation Fund (PPAF).
Primarily, the meeting assessed the progress of the IFL in 110 existing districts and discussed the roadmap to upscale the programme across 28 new districts in lagging regions.
Launched in July 2019, Ehsaas IFL is the Country’s biggest programme for poverty graduation, which will impact 14.7 million vulnerable people in four years with half of them women including youth, persons with special needs, transgender, minorities and marginalised communities.
