Federal Minister for Privatisation Mohammad Mian Soomro chaired an inter-ministerial meeting in Islamabad to discuss and resolve issues regarding privatisation of energy sector entities
Special Assistant to Prime Minister on Power and Petroleum Tabish Gohar, Privatisation Federal Secretary Hasan Nasir Jamy and other seniors of the ministry attended the meeting. NPPMCL Chief Executive Officer Dhanpat Kotak and the financial adviser participated via video link.
In the meeting, various issues relating to privatisation of the National Power Parks Management Company Ltd (NPPMCL), Nandipur and Guddu power plants, divestment of shares of Pakistan Petroleum Limited (PPL) and Mari Petroleum Company Limited were discussed.
KSE-100: Stocks extend gains; index up 380 points

Stocks extended gains at Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX) for the second consecutive day, as positive news-flow over possible resolution of long term IPP issue and government’s decision to renegotiate tariffs and tax issue with the IMF, lifted market sentiments.
On Wednesday, the benchmark KSE-100 opened on a positive note and touched intra-day high at 45,173.61 level after gaining over 610.02 points. However, the index clocked at 44,943.61 level by the closing bell after posting a 380 points gain.
During the session, investor sentiments were primarily buoyed by the news regarding the resolution of the long-awaited IPPs issue as the Economic Coordination Committee was set to take up a matter pertaining to 40% dues to IPPs.
MPCL Commences Natural Gas Production from Shah Bandar Block
Mari Petroleum Company Limited (MPCL) has announced that it has commenced the production of natural gas from the Benari X-1 Field in the Shah Bandar Block from 3 May 2021.
The Shah Bandar Block is operated by Pakistan Petroleum Limited (PPL), and MPCL holds 32 percent working interest in it.

Shah Bandar Joint Venture is located in District Sujawal, Sindh. It has agreed to process Benari X-1 gas at MPCL’s operated Sujawal Gas Processing Facility for its onward injection into the SSGC network, a local news outlet reported on Wednesday.
The expected output from the field is 9.5 MMSCFD.

KARACHI: Pakistan Petroleum Limited (PPL) has commenced commercial gas production from Benari Development and Production Lease (Benari D&PL) in Shah Bandar Block with effect from May 3, 2021, a bourse filing said on Tuesday.
The block is located in districts Thatta and Sujawal, Sindh and lies in the southernmost part of the Lower Indus basin.
Benari X-1 well in Benari D&PL is the first exploratory well drilled in Shah Bandar block, which is operated by Pakistan Petroleum Limited (PPL) with 63 percent working interest (WI) along with its joint venture partners, Mari Petroleum Company Limited (MPCL) having 32 percent WI, Sindh Energy Holding Company Limited (SEHCL) and Government Holdings Private Limited (GHPL) with 2.5 percent WI each, it said.

ISLAMABAD: The state-run Oil and Gas Development Company Limited (OGDCL) has complained to the government over unfair treatment of liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) business of domestic producers against the imported commodity and demanded a level playing field.
The OGDCL has reported to the government that serious challenges of LPG supply and uplifting are being faced by the domestic LPG producers due to subsidised LPG imports and their requests over the last five months were not being heeded to.
