Dubai: The United Arab Emirates (UAE) played a role in bringing down the tension between India and Pakistan and getting their bilateral ties back to a “healthy functional relationship”, Emirati ambassador to the US Yousef al-Otaiba said.
“They might not sort of become best friends but at least we want to get it to a level where it’s functional, where it’s operational, where they are speaking to each other,” Mr al-Otaiba said during a virtual discussion with Stanford University’s Hoover Institution on Wednesday.

KABUL (Pajhwok): Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan and Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan have held a telephonic conversation in which the two leaders discussed Afghan peace process.
Prime minister stressed the importance of a negotiated political settlement of the conflict in Afghanistan ahead of recently announced planned US withdrawal, according to Dawn.com.
He said Pakistan had fully supported and facilitated the US-Taliban peace agreement and the subsequent initiation of intra-Afghan negotiations.
The prime minister stressed that the intra-Afghan negotiations provided a historic opportunity which must be seized by the Afghan leadership to achieve an inclusive, broad-based and comprehensive political settlement.
