PEMRA Warns TV Channel for Airing a Fight Live The Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority (PEMRA) has issued a show-cause notice to Neo TV for broadcasting immoral and inappropriate language during a live show. In a tweet on Tuesday, PEMRA said that the notice was sent for airing an argument, exchange of immoral and inappropriate words among the guests during a morning show aired on May 17, and irresponsible and unprofessional behavior of the host of the show, who opted not to intervene. The TV channel has been asked to submit its reply within 14 days. Twitter/File The Islamabad High Court (IHC) on Wednesday ordered the National Database and Registration Authority (Nadra) to restore the national identity card of Jamiat Ulema-i-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F) leader Hafiz Hamdullah, ruling that the authority acted in an arbitrary and reckless manner by depriving him of his citizenship without considering the profound consequences of such a decision. Ex-senator Hamdullah had lost his citizenship in October 2019 when Nadra declared him an alien . He had subsequently challenged Nadra s notification of revoking his citizenship in the IHC. Nadra in its written reply had referred to intelligence reports claiming that Hamdullah was not a Pakistani national. ISLAMABAD: Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting Fawad Chaudhry has said the entire ministry will be revamped in seven to 10 months to turn it into an effective “voice of the state” and not the ruling party for which besides introducing latest technologies and public-private partnership in the media, reforms will be carried out in each department. “Unfortunately, nobody has ever realised that information ministry has become a spokesperson of the ruling party [whichever comes to power] though it should be a spokesperson of the state,” Mr Chaudhry said while talking to Dawn on Saturday. He explained that he had tried to bring about changes in the ministry in 2018 when he had become the first information minister of the present government but the process stopped soon after his portfolio was changed.
