ISLAMABAD: Senior journalist and former chairman of the Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority (Pemra) Absar Alam was shot in the federal capital on Tuesday, Geo News reported.
The journalist said an unidentified man shot him and made a run for it. According to police, Alam was shot in the stomach but was in a stable condition.
Police added the journalist was taking a walk in a park situated in the capital’s F-11 area when an unidentified man came and shot him. Later, a video of the wounded journalist travelling in a car surfaced on social media. He could be heard saying he was walking outside his home when he was “shot by someone”.

ISLAMABAD: Senior journalist and former chairman of the Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority (Pemra) Absar Alam was shot in Islamabad outside his residence on Tuesday.
Absar Alam received a bullet in his ribs damaging his liver, the hospital sources disclosed when contacted. He was shifted to hospital where bullet has been removed from his body.
The assailant managed to escape after the shootout. Police have taken up the case and started efforts to hunt down the shooter. Sarfaraz, a family member of Absar Alam, told The News that the bullet damaged his liver, however, his condition is out of danger.
