Hamza slams govt for price-hike, unemployment

National May 3, 2021 LAHORE: Leader of the Opposition in the Punjab Assembly and Central Vice President of Pakistan Muslim League-N (PML-N) Hamza Shahbaz has said that swift measures should be taken against uncontrolled inflation and unemployment in the holy month of Ramazan. In a statement issued here on Sunday, he said the government had failed to provide any relief to the poor. He said the sale of substandard goods and their high prices in the name of cheap bazaars was a serious joke with the fasting people. “There is chaos all over Pakistan, especially in Punjab. The economic murder of people is continuing and the government is playing the role of a silent spectator,” Hamza said, adding that shortage of vegetables, fruits and groceries and their sale at exorbitant prices during the holy month was cruelty.

PM offers talks on voting machines for poll credibility - Newspaper

ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Imran Khan on Saturday directly invited the opposition to “sit together” with the government and discuss the use of electronic voting machines (EVMs) to “reclaim the credibility” of elections but the opposition parties took no time in rejecting the fresh offer, saying the idea was not viable for the country and was a new “plot to rig the elections”. “Unfortunately, no substantive (poll) reforms were put in place. Technology and use of Electronic Voting Machines are the only answer to reclaim credibility of elections. I invite the opposition to sit with us and select from EVM models we have available to restore our elections credibility,” the prime minister said in a series of tweets while referring to Thursday’s by-election in Karachi.

Top Story April 18, 2021 RAWALPINDI: Federal Minister Fawad Chaudhry Saturday announced that directions were being given for registration of a terrorism case against Pakistan Muslim League-N (PMLN) leader Rana Sanaullah for allegedly hurling threats at the government officers. Talking to the media here during his visit to the injured police personnel at the District Headquarters Hospital (DHQ), he said Rana Sanaullah had threatened Punjab chief secretary, commissioner and other officers, and a case would be registered against him under the Anti-Terrorism Act (ATA) and the related laws for which instructions were being issued. The minister said the tone of the PMLN leader was akin to that of Altaf Hussain, and the leaders of a religious outfit, currently under the spotlight. “And you have seen what happened to both,” added the minister.
