Inflation reduced, claims PM Imran Khan

ISLAMABAD/ LAHORE: Prime Minister Imran Khan on Sunday said the government’s efforts to reduce inflation were producing results and consumer price index and core inflation both were lower than the day when his government was formed.
Through a tweet, the prime minister shared this information saying, “More good news on the economic front. Our efforts to reduce inflation are now showing results. Consumer price index & core inflation are both now lower than when our government was formed.
“I have told my economic team to stay vigilant & ensure that inflation stays under control,” the PM added. Also, Minister for Planning and Development Asad Umar said that inflation was continuing to decline in the country.

SIALKOT: Special Assistant to Chief Minister (SACM) on Information Dr Firdous Ashiq Awan Sunday said a ‘thug’ from Sialkot used to show his bravery by jumping into canals when he was in power, but now he was in jail and was begging for facilities.
Apparently referring to Pakistan Muslim League-N (PML-N) Member of National Assembly (MNA) Khwaja Muhammad Asif, she said he might be brave, but he was afraid of giving his money trail and details of suspicious transfer of funds.
While talking to the media here, she said Kh Asif marred the honour of Sialkot and its residents by his corruption, and now he feared that in case of admitting to his wrongdoings, even his family would not allow him to enter their home.

Gujjar Qaumi Movement announces to contest LG polls

TIMERGARA: The Gujjar Qaumi Movement (GQM) chief Haji Zarin Khan Gujjar on Sunday announced to field his party candidates in all constituencies in the next local government elections in Dir, Swat, Bunir, Shangla and Kohistan districts.
He said this while talking to the local journalists at Talash.
The GQM chief was not happy with the prevailing situation under the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) rule. “Injustice, corruption, inflation and unemployment have hit the poor people hard during the PTI government,” he added.
The GQM founding leader alleged that the Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl had committed irregularities in relief funds meant for October 8, 2005 earthquake victims in Balakot, Kaghan, Naran and Shangla when it was in power. He said the party should be questioned for those alleged anomalies.
