Govt to address garment sector woes Govt to address garment sector woes APP July 10, 2021 LAHORE: Punjab Minister for Industries and Commerce Mian Aslam Iqbal on Friday discussed the problems faced by the garment sector with a delegation of the Pakistan Readymade Garments Manufacturers and Exporters Association (PRGMEA) North Zone, led by its Chairman Adeeb Iqbal Sheikh. During the meeting, they discussed issues of property tax, city government tax, Water and Sanitation Agency (Wasa) and social security. The minister assured the delegation of resolving their genuine issues and directed the additional commerce secretary to coordinate with the departments concerned immediately to resolve the issues of the garment sector. “All dry ports of Punjab will be fully functional,” he declared.

The newly-appointed Pakistani envoy said this during his visit to Pakistan Readymade Garments Manufacturers and Exporters Association (PRGMEA), where he held detailed discussions on value-added industry and export. “The efforts of PRGMEA in promoting value-added exports are commendable,” ambassador Tarar said speaking to the businessmen at the association’s office. He said the purpose of his visit to Sialkot was to enhance contacts and exchange information for the promotion of trade between Pakistan and the Netherlands. He showed keen interest in exclusive product lines of Sialkot, especially the footballs played in world cup.

Addressing the meeting at PRGMEA House, the Ambassador said that the efforts of PRGMEA in promoting value-added exports are commendable. He said that the purpose of his visit to Sialkot was to enhance contacts and exchange information for the promotion of trade between Pakistan and the Netherlands.
