Islamabad: Pakistan’s foreign minister says the government is committed to develop economic ties with African countries to boost people-to-people and business links. Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi held a meeting with ambassadors of different African countries at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Thursday to discuss bilateral economic cooperation prospects. Diplomats from Algeria, Kenya, Libya, Mauritius, Morocco, South Africa, Sudan and Tunisia attended the meeting.
“Pakistan attaches great importance to its relations with African countries” and the government is committed to developing trade ties to explore the untapped economic potential, FM Qureshi said. Pakistan is eager to “promote bilateral cooperation with African countries in various fields, including agriculture, health, technology, tourism.” Describing Africa as the “continent of the future”, with 54 countries and a population of 1.3 billion, the foreign minister said Pakistan’s friendly relations

Islamabad, Jan 7 (PTI) Pakistan Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi on Thursday held telephonic conversation with his counterparts from Saudi Arabia, Qatar and Bahrain to support efforts for the reduction of tension in the Gulf region.
The Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) meeting hosted by the kingdom in Al-Ula on January 5 marked the end of boycott of Qatar and normalisation of its ties with Riyadh and other Arab nations.

The incumbent Imran Khan-led government of Pakistan will not resign on January 31 as demanded by the 11-party PDM opposition alliance, Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi confirmed on Saturday.
Qureshi made the remarks while speaking to Geo News after the Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM) announced to intensify its anti-government campaign and again asked the Prime Minister to step down before the January 31 deadline. Prime Minister Imran Khan enjoys the confidence of the National Assembly. Why would he resign on the Opposition s demand? the Foreign Minister queried.
He said that the PDM had earlier announced to resign from the provincial assemblies on December 31, 2020, but the date has passed.

Islamabad, Dec 29 : Pakistan Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi on Tuesday reiterated that Prime Minister Imran Khan will not resign at the behest of the 11-party opposition alliance, the PDM.
Qureshi s remarks came in response to Pakistan Peoples Party chief Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari s threat to lead a long march to Islamabad if Khan did not resign by January 31, The Express Tribune reported.
