Criticizing neighboring India for its “hegemonic and expansionist designs,” Pakistan’s Foreign Office on Friday stressed that Islamabad remained firmly committed to regional and global peace.
Addressing a weekly press briefing, spokesman Zahid Hafeez Chaudhri lamented that India’s “irresponsible actions” were endangering regional peace and security. He said that India had strained ties with almost all its neighbors, and urged Delhi to undertake a “serious course correction” to ensure regional stability.

PESHAWAR: Pakistani police have arrested 10 more people in overnight raids for their alleged involvement in the vandalisation of a Hindu temple by a mob led by members of a radical Islamist party in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province.
With the latest arrests, the number of accused arrested in the case has risen to 55. Over 350 people have been named in the FIR after the temple in Terri village in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s Karak district was vandalised and set on fire on Wednesday by a mob protesting against its expansion work.

Rejecting any perception of institutionalized forced religious conversions, Pakistan’s Foreign Office on Tuesday stressed that minorities in the country are free to profess, practice and propagate their religion.
Responding to media queries in Islamabad, spokesperson Zahid Hafeez Chaudhri said that Islam forbids forced conversions under the Quran and Sunnah. He claimed that most reported cases of forced conversion, upon closer scrutiny, were found to be “fictitious, politically-motivated or based on mala fide intent,” adding that this was part of a concerted effort to malign Pakistan globally. He cited the recent disclosures by EU DisinfoLab as proof that Indian intelligence agencies were spreading disinformation about Pakistan.
