Dubai: His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, met Pakistan Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi today and received a message from Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan. The foreign minister, who is on a two-day visit to the UAE,  conveyed his prime minister s greetings and a message on strengthening friendly relations between the UAE and Pakistan.  Qureshi also thanked the UAE s leadership and government for the good treatment and generous care provided to the Pakistani community in the UAE and ways to enhance and activate the existing bilateral relations between the two countries at all levels for the benefit of their peoples.

Pakistan: Reduction of violence in Afghanistan vital for peace

Islamabad: Pakistan’s foreign minister has said that the Afghan Taliban are eager to move towards reduction in violence paving the way for ceasefire and peace in Afghanistan, which Pakistan believes is crucial for regional peace. “Taliban are convinced that continuation of war and conflict is not in their interest nor in Afghanistan’s interest… Their desire and seriousness to proceed towards peace is a positive sign” Pakistan’s Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi said after meeting Taliban high-powered delegation in Islamabad on Wednesday. FM Qureshi expressed Pakistan’s sincere wishes for “reduction in violence and ceasefire” to end decades of conflict in neighbouring Afghanistan. The next meeting on Afghan peace process would be held on January 5, 2021, he revealed.
