An argument between boyfriend and girlfriend turned violent on Dec. 1 when the man fired at the woman with a shotgun.
Thirty-five-year-old Anthony Wayne Thurman appeared during a session of Baxter County Circuit Court Thursday and entered a not guilty plea to the charges against him stemming from the incident.
He also asked Circuit Judge John Putman to lift the no contact order put in place after the incident to keep the couple apart. The judge denied the request.
Thurman is charged with first-degree domestic battery and being a felon in possession of a firearm. During the investigation, it was determined Thurman had a felony conviction on his record from Missouri.

Authorities responding to a residence on County Road 27 in Baxter County nabbed a well-known fugitive from justice Wednesday afternoon.
Stephan Richard Whaples was arrested after almost a month on the lam, after he failed to appear in Baxter County Circuit Court.
Deputies from the Baxter County Sheriff’s Office were investigating an Arkansas Game & Fish Violation, when they arrived as the County Road 27 location and noticed a man in the yard, who they quickly recognized as Whaples, according to Baxter County Sheriff John Montgomery.
Whaples has a lengthy history of fleeing from law enforcement dating back to 2011, when he was the subject of four manhunts in less than a year. Montgomery says the deputies took quick action to arrest Whaples, and he was taken into custody without incident. The suspect authorities were searching for was not located at the property.

A woman who was accused of stealing musical instruments from a residence where she had formerly lived pled no contest to charges against her during a session of Baxter County Circuit Court Dec. 3.
Thirty-eight-year-old Kimberly Jordan was sentenced to three years probation and ordered to pay $1,250 in restitution.
Jordan had been instructed by law enforcement to stay away from the residence where the theft took place. She was to be accompanied by law enforcement, if she even went to the home to collect her belongings.
The victim alleged Jordan had come to the residence, while he was away and had stolen musical instruments belonging to him valued at about $1,250.

A Mountain Home woman has been arrested on two occasions after being found in odd places – a trash can and a dumpster.
Thirty-eight-year-old Christian Hope Manley was also taken into custody during a session of Baxter County Circuit Court last week.
Manley was first arrested in early July 2018, when a Mountain Home police officer found her inside a dumpster behind the Goodwill Store.
She was taken to jail, after it was discovered she had active arrest warrants.
According to the probable cause affidavit, Manley was warned before being taken to the detention center that if she had anything illegal with her, she would pick up another felony charge.
