Suspect wanted on nationwide, local warrants taken into custody

Photo: Daniel Hoskins A Paragould man with warrants out for his arrest was picked up Sunday morning in Gassville and is facing additional charges. Thirty-two-year-old Daniel Hoskins is in the Baxter County Detention Center with bond set at $25,000. According to the report, a Gassville officer drove through the parking lot of a convenience store just after 10 a.m. and observed a male standing next to a vehicle at a gas pump. The male was reportedly trying to hide his face. The officer ran the license plate and determined through investigation the male was Hoskins. He had an outstanding felony nationwide warrant from the parole board and misdemeanor warrants from the Baxter County Sheriff’s Office and the Mountain Home Police Department.

Man who scattered hot checks in BC, other Arkansas locations back in jail

Photo: Bryan Louis Herring A man alleged to have scattered an estimated $74,000 in bad checks in Baxter County and a number of other Arkansas locations has been jailed. Forty-eight-year-old Bryan Louis Herring listed a Batesville address when he was booked into the Baxter County Detention Center shortly after 4:30 a.m. on Saturday. Herring was declared a fugitive in Baxter County Aug. 10 last year, when he failed to show up for a scheduled circuit court appearance. In addition to Baxter County, Herring is being sought in Benton, Craighead, Independence, Izard, Sharp and Washington  counties in Arkansas and at least one other state, according to court records.

Man charged with making pipe bonds appears in circuit court

Photo: Michael Cody Everett A Clarkridge man accused of making and exploding homemade pipe bombs at his residence appeared in Baxter County Circuit Court Thursday. Thirty-six-year-old Michael Everett was booked into the Baxter County Detention Center July 17 last year and charged with criminal possession of explosive material, criminal use of prohibited weapons (bombs), three counts of possession of firearms by a felon, possessing drug paraphernalia and three counts of endangering the welfare of a minor. He is also charged with firing a gun out of his SUV in early April last year reportedly to express his displeasure at the speed the vehicle in front of him was traveling. Everett’s attorney, Deputy Public Defender Mark Cooper, said a plea offer had been made in that case. Circuit Judge John Putman ordered Everett to reappear Feb. 11 “if a plea is to be taken.”

MH man due for trial on old charges rearrested on new allegations

Photo: Ryan Amyx Even before a Mountain Home man could go on trial for breaking into a retail establishment and taking thousands of dollars worth of jewelry, he was rearrested and charged with other crimes.Thirty-three-year-old Ryan Amyx made an appearance in Baxter County Circuit Court earlier this month and entered a plea of not guilty to his newest charge. He was ordered to reappear in July. In the older case, Amyx was allegedly caught on surveillance cameras both inside and outside the business, located on U.S. Highway 62/412 East in mid-September 2018. At one point, the person who broke into the store could be seen attempting to hide himself by crouching behind a display counter, as the sliding door was opened and trays of jewelry removed. He was also seen taking money from the cash register.

Gamaliel man injured Saturday in ATV accident

A Baxter County man was injured early Saturday evening in an ATV accident. Fifty-seven-year-old Harold Parks of Gamaliel was transported by air ambulance to Mercy Hospital in Springfield with what were described as suspected serious injuries. According to the crash report from the Baxter County Sheriff’s Office, Parks was on his ATV in the 600 block of Red Bank Road. He reportedly locked up the brakes, and the ATV slid in the roadway and rolled. Parks was ejected from the ATV. Parks was reportedly not wearing a helmet in the 5:40 p.m. accident. WebReady
