Three arrested for paddling Izard County woman

Three people have been charged for paddling an Izard County woman, including her sister who demanded her sister be released from the hospital because they needed her money. Thirty-five-year-old Carl Luebken, 34-year-old Crystal Allen and the women’s sister, 61-year-old Penny Sue Tucker, are facing two felonies each in connection with the abuse. According to the probable cause affidavit from the Izard County Sheriff’s Office, they were first notified of the abuse by the Mountain Home Police Department after they were contacted by officials from Baxter Regional Medical Center. When the victim was being admitted for another condition, hospital personnel witnessed bruising on the the victim’s buttock.

Malfunctioning motorcycle lands on top, injures driver

A Midway man was injured Monday when his malfunctioning motorcycle landed on top of him at a Baxter County residence. Robert Wolfe was transported by Baxter Regional ambulance personnel to Baxter Regional Medical Center. According to the report from the Baxter County Sheriff’s Office, Wolfe was at the residence on Cherokee Place when the throttle got stuck as the motorcycle was in motion. The motorcycle collided with a railroad tie, struck a barbed-wire fence, collided with a ditch and landed on top of Wolfe. Man charged with making pipe bonds appears in circuit court

Photo: Michael Cody Everett A Clarkridge man accused of making and exploding homemade pipe bombs at his residence appeared in Baxter County Circuit Court Thursday. Thirty-six-year-old Michael Everett was booked into the Baxter County Detention Center July 17 last year and charged with criminal possession of explosive material, criminal use of prohibited weapons (bombs), three counts of possession of firearms by a felon, possessing drug paraphernalia and three counts of endangering the welfare of a minor. He is also charged with firing a gun out of his SUV in early April last year reportedly to express his displeasure at the speed the vehicle in front of him was traveling. Everett’s attorney, Deputy Public Defender Mark Cooper, said a plea offer had been made in that case. Circuit Judge John Putman ordered Everett to reappear Feb. 11 “if a plea is to be taken.”

Man charged with assaulting mother makes 2nd unsuccessful attempt at making plea

Photo: Casey Dillan Lawson A 20-year-old rural Mountain Home man, who is alleged to have assaulted his mother, leaving her with serious injuries, made a second unsuccessful try at entering a guilty plea to his charges during a session of Baxter County Circuit Court Thursday. In late September, the plea taking came off the rails when Casey Dillan Lawson could not stop laughing as the facts behind his charges were read. According to court records, Lawson has dealt with significant mental health issues for some time. The original agreement, worked out by prosecutors and defense attorney Mark Cooper, called for Lawson to receive a six-year prison sentence with five suspended and one to serve.
