Donovan recently started taking Evrysdi (risdiplam), the only at-home treatment and
first oral drug approved for SMA in adults and children 2 months of age and older.
“We’re seeing a lot of gains, his father said.
Before taking Evrysdi, Donovan would fall over while sitting in his wheelchair and his arms weren t getting any stronger and his posture wasn t getting any better, said Weisgarber, 34, of the Northeast Side.
“He wasn’t losing anything,” his father said. “He just wasn’t gaining anything.”
Since starting Evrysdi, Donovan’s endurance has improved and he is able to push his wheelchair faster and farther. He can also sit up longer and is more flexible, his father said. And he sings louder, indicating his lung function is better.
