Bottle Works Ethnic Arts Center in Johnstown began hosting their third season of the “Arts Academy” Saturday morning.
The nine-week art program teaches students ages 8 to 15 years old lessons in drawing, painting, and folk & traditional arts.
Each session holds a limited number of seats for social distancing.
Bottle Works received a grant from the Community Foundation for the Alleghenies for the program.
Melody Tisinger, Director for Bottle Works, says it will give the kids a sense of community during the pandemic.
“I think kids are looking for the moment to have a little bit of normalcy. See their friends, engage eye to eye, with the addition of programming arts education being cut from a lot of school budgets. We are happy to fill that gap,” she said.
