Richmond, who teaches computers and business at a Bergen County high school had her first COVID-19 vaccine appointment Jan. 31 at the state-run mass vaccination hub at the Westchester County Center. She had her paperwork in hand. But a worker there said she didn t qualify. Her husband, Christopher Richmond, who is an IT specialist for the same Bergen district, canceled his appointment after what happened to Lindsay.
The Richmonds were not the only ones. State Sen. Elijah Reichlin-Melnick said that he heard from about a dozen constituents who lived in Rockland but worked in New Jersey schools who had hit a wall when trying to get vaccinated. He introduced legislation to ensure New Yorkers who are essential workers in another state would be eligible for vaccines.

COVID-19 vaccination clinics scheduled in Rockland for Sunday, Feb. 7, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. has been rescheduled for Monday, Feb. 8 from 1 p.m. to 7 p.m. due to the Nor easter.
If you have an appointment for Sunday to be vaccinated at Rockland County Department of Health clinic, you will receive a COVID-19 vaccine on Monday between 1 p.m. and 7 p.m., the Rockland County Department of Health added.
No new appointment will be scheduled, and you can come at your convenience from 1 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Monday.
If you are unable to come at all Monday, please call the county’s COVID-19 hotline at 845-238-1956 to cancel.

The Rockland County Department of Health (RCDOH) received 700 new doses of the Covid-19 Moderna vaccine allotted for phase 1b essential workers and will open up registration at 4:00 P.M. this afternoon. The department stated in a release that it does not expect the registration to be open for very long.

“We will continue to look for ways to improve our local response, will keep fighting to bring more vaccine to Rockland and we will not stop until all of you who want the vaccine get the vaccine,” said County Executive Ed Day.
