DENVER A Pueblo man who was sentenced Thursday to 34 months in federal prison said his history of crime has to do with (his) drug addiction and alcohol abuse. Kenneth Lawrence Baca was sentenced in Denver at the U.S. District Court for Colorado for having a gun after being convicted of a felony. Court records show he had at least three felony convictions in Pueblo District Court in 2000, 2005 and 2009. The crimes were second-degree assault with a deadly weapon, criminal mischief and identify theft. Police caught Baca, 41, in 2018 with a loaded .38 caliber handgun in a car parked in the 1100 block of South Prairie Avenue. That was the basis of the case for Thursday s sentencing by Judge William J. Martinez.
