The state reports two visitors were arrested at the Daniel K. Inouye International Airport on February 11, 2021 for trying to bribe airport screeners to allow them to bypass the State’s mandatory Safe Travels rules.
According to reports from the Dept. of Public Safety and the AG’s Office, 29-year-old Johntrell White of Simmesport, LA and 28-year-old Nadia Bailey of Baton Rouge arrived in Hawai‘i without valid COVID-19 exemptions or pre-tests. White allegedly told an airport screener he would give her $2,000 to pass through without having to quarantine. Bailey also allegedly told the same screener she would throw in an additional $1,000 to let them both through without quarantining.

Guests will be guided by a V2 concierge who will work with them through the testing process and verify they have the proper documentation prior to departure.

Pre-travel testing to include South Korea
HONOLULU Travelers from South Korea can soon bypass Hawaii’s mandatory 10-day quarantine by producing a negative COVID-19 test from a trusted screening partner in their home country.
Democratic Gov. David Ige announced the Safe Travels Hawaii pre-travel testing program will be extended to South Korean travelers starting on Feb. 5.
Tests must be taken within 72 hours of flight departure from South Korea.
“The pre-travel testing program is just one layer of the state’s comprehensive Safe Travels Hawaii program, which has served us well in protecting our residents and visitors,” Ige said. “We are excited to safely welcome back travelers from Korea.”
