Explaining the Safe Haven Law in Wisconsin

Explaining the Safe Haven Law in Wisconsin January 17, 2021 9:09 AM Tyler Job LA CROSSE, Wis. (WKBT) – If you have a child you are unable to take care of, there are ways to make sure they are given the best life possible. Wisconsin has a Safe Haven Law, which allows parents to give up their baby child under three days old to any first responder. Recently, a Wisconsin teen was charged  for killing his infant daughter. Officials want you to know that there are options available if you can not take care of your child. “The main goal is really for infant safety. And we know in these situations that families may be feeling a lot of crisis. The intention is likely that they have not ever intended to parent and they’re not quite sure what to do. So we want to make sure that their baby is safe and well cared for,” Gundersen Health System clinical manager Jennifer Linse said.
