CLINTON - Law Enforcement is investigating after a newborn was apparently abandoned outside Clinton Hospital earlier this week.
On Monday, April 19, between 2 and 3 a.m., a newborn baby was left unattended in the parking lot at Clinton Hospital and found by staff, according to police reports.
Clinton police Lt. Brian Coyne said, from the most recent reports, the baby is doing fine, health-wise. Baby Safe Haven, Department of Children and Families and the Worcester County District Attorney s Office were all notified. The baby could have been legally left at the hospital under the state s Safe Haven Act, but the person who left the baby did not make any notification to anyone at the hospital or leave the baby with an appropriate person, which the law states, Coyne said. Luckily, someone from inside the hospital found the baby when they did and the baby was brought inside to be cared for.
