Brown Street Paving Wrapping Up | Alton Daily News

WBGZ Radio 4/15/2021 | By Doug Jenkins, Mark Ellebracht - WBGZ Radio If you travel Brown Street from Upper Alton to the west, you’ve had to find a different route over the last week or so. A resurfacing project is wrapping up that began a couple of weeks ago, and the road from Washington Avenue to Mills Street should be open by the weekend. Alton Public Works Department Director Bob Barnhart tells The Big Z the project involved milling down about an inch-and-a-half of the existing surface and laying down new asphalt. Concord parents bringing back Bike to School program in May

Wicked Local Last fall, a group of Concord parents created a bike-to-school initiative to encourage kids to walk or ride their bikes, consistent with the School Department’s efforts to minimize the number of students riding buses due to the pandemic. The adults tracked the number of bikes  parked at the schools for several months to help the School Department know about the trend. The initiative was deemed successful, according to Phil Posner, a member of the town’s Transportation Advisory Committee who spoke to the Concord Journal as a private resident. So, the group of adults is bringing the initiative back for the spring.

Village Council— Gaunt Park pool to open with changes • The Yellow Springs News

When the Gaunt Park pool opens on May 29, it will look, in many ways, similar to last year. Masks will be required, and the grassy area will be marked to designate socially distanced seating areas. But there will be some changes. Gone are both the two-hour session limits and locals-only days. And higher prices will be charged across the board in the first pool rate increase since 2009. Council passed the first reading of an ordinance amending pool rates at its March 15 regular meeting. A second reading and public hearing for the measure is April 5. The largest cost increases will affect nonresidents. In another change, there are no longer lower rates for Miami Township residents.
