As Indian Army chief Gen Manoj Mukund Naravane inducted the last of the 100 K-9 Vajra guns ordered, three of these howitzers have been deployed for trials in high altitude mountainous area of Ladakh. Three guns arrived in Leh yesterday and are being transported to a high altitude base to be tested if they can be used in high altitude areas against the enemy, top government sources told ANI on Thursday. Based on the performance of the guns, the Indian Army would consider placing orders for two to three additional regiments of the self-propelled howitzers for mountain operations, sources said. DRDO’s Rustom Drone Gets Deadlier; To Fly At 27,000 Feet For Over 18 Hours In April Rustom-2 (Photo By: Shiv Aroor) Defence Research Development Organization-developed (DRDO) medium-altitude long endurance drone Rustom-2 is slated to achieve massive upgrade when it will take off from Chitradurga in Karnataka to fly for over 18 hours at a height of 27,000 feet, Hindustan Times reports. The drone, also known as Tapas-BH (Tactical Airborne Platform for Aerial Surveillance-Beyond Horizon 201), had completed its last flight test in October 2020 as it flew for around eight hours at almost 16,000 feet. The indigenously built unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) has been created for strategic reconnaissance and surveillance operations and is touted as a “huge step” by government officials.
