Thursday January 21, 2021 at 7:00 pm the Minnesota USDA Farm Service Agency (FSA) and Minnesota Cattlemen s Association will be hosting a webinar on USDA FSA programs that are available to support Minnesota s cattle industry. Some of the programs include Livestock Indemnity Program, Livestock Forage Disaster Program, Emergency Assistance for Livestock, Honeybees, and Farm-Raised Fish Program. There also will be a review of Marketing Assistance Loans, Farm Storage Facility Loans and the Conservation Reserve Program.
It seems there have always been a number of USDA FSA programs to support farmers and livestock producers. With the COVID-19 pandemic we have many more. It is tough to stay informed on all of them so, it seems like this webinar is a good idea. Livestock producers may quality for a program that you did not even know about! When you join the meeting you will be linked to a page and you can pick the option on the web or download an app for your desktop.

Enrollment for the general Conservation Reserve Program began this week at county Farm Service Agency offices. South Dakota FSA C-R-P Coordinator Owen Fagerhaug says those interested in signing up should get in touch with FSA and make their offer as bids are accepted on a competitive basis.
He says those enrolling in the general program must have a four-year cropping history and if a producer wants to re-enroll, they’re encouraged to do that.
Fagerhaug advises those wishing to sign up for general C-R-P to get in touch with FSA as soon as possible.
Agricultural producers and private landowners interested in the Conservation Reserve Program (CRP) could sign up for the popular program beginning Jan. 4, 2021.
jkbowers/Getty Images Plus Key issues that could affect the agriculture industry will likely be addressed, and possibly resolved, by Congress and the White House in the next few years.
The highly contentious 2020 election is now history, and we will move forward with a new administration and several new members of congress, along with changes in leadership of the U.S. House and Senate Agriculture Committees. We will have a new Secretary of Agriculture and new leader in the Environmental Protection Agency. These positions, along with subsequent appointments within the federal and state agencies, can have a big impact on how various agriculture and environmental policies are implemented and administered.
